Tensions between power-critical researchers and formal ethics processes: A literature review
This review, commissioned by the Feminist Ethics Collaborative, sought to identify the existing evidence on tensions between feminist research and ethics review processes. They explored three key questions:
- What are the barriers, tensions, and dilemmas faced by feminist and other power-critical researchers in their encounters with ethics review processes that operate within a positivist, colonial, and Western paradigm?
- What are some innovative approaches, solutions, or workarounds that have been proposed or proven to be effective in navigating these challenges?
- What are some guiding principles for researchers, reviewers, and donors who want to create an enabling environment for feminist and other power-critical researchers?
