Feminist Ethics Collaborative

Reimagining research ethics through feminist, decolonial, and participatory approaches

We are a global community working to transform how research ethics are understood and practiced, with a particular focus on research in and emerging from the Global South.

What We Do

The Feminist Ethics Collaborative (FEC) is a global initiative dedicated to reimagining research ethics through feminist, participatory, and decolonial approaches. We examine and address the structural tensions between feminist research practices - particularly in the Global South - and conventional, positivist review mechanisms like Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and Ethics Review Committees (ERCs). We are especially interested in understanding ethics tensions emerging from research involving adolescents and children because these will often trigger the need for full research ethics review.
